Sad Day

So today was the funeral for my Grandpa George. He passed away Saturday morning unexpectedly. He seemed to be doing pretty good as of late so it was such a shock when my Dad called me Saturday morning with the news. I felt so bad because the last time I saw him was Easter Sunday and I didn't really get to talk with him because of all the family there and then Grandma took him home early because he was tired and I didn't even get to say goodbye. The one thing that makes me feel better is that a couple weeks ago Justin, Rylee and I went to their house to return something and we got to have a little visit with them. How grateful I am for that
day. It wasn't the longest of visits but I got to give him a hug and tell him I loved him.

It was a very nice service held at Wood Funeral home and he looked so good. I told Rylee that he would just look like he was sleeping. I thought that she would be too afraid to go see him but she was so intrigued. She kept asking "Is he really dead?" and then she kept going up to see him and would touch his arm or just look at him. I don't know what she was expecting to see but when it really did look like he was sleeping I think she thought he might just wake up and join us. Before the service we got to say our last goodbyes which is always the hardest part. It wasn't until that moment and the men were closing the casket that it really sunk in for her. She started crying and saw that everyone else was crying and then she just couldn't stop. During the service she just couldn't stop sobbing and she just held up the program with his picture and couldn't stop looking at it. She told me "my heart feels bad" and my heart just broke for her. Then she gets up and goes to give Grandpa Peggy a hug and tells her sorry. It was such a sweet moment. I know Rylee was very sad but I think it was a good thing for us to take her so she can understand. She knows that Gramps in heaven.

It is always so good to see all of your family that you hardly ever get to see but such unfortunate circumstances that brought us all together.
Rest in Peace Gramps! We love you!

Wicked Birthday Fun!

So this last weekend mom, Rylee and I went to Syracuse to be with my sister for her birthday. We were all so excited because we had tickets to see Wicked Saturday night. Unfortunately we ran into a little bit of bad luck. The place where we purchased the tickets lost them and so the only show they could get us was for Sunday night at 6:30 p.m. which meant that mom and I would be driving home really late at night (or really early in the morning!) which freaked me out but what do you do-it was all the guy could get. One plus was that the seats were better than our original ones. We were originally in the balcony in row Z but we got orchestra seats! So Saturday we did a little shopping for Nicole's birthday and then went to Macaroni Grill for her birthday dinner. After that we went to the Discovery Gateway Children's Museum. That was the highlight of the trip for Rylee. She has been asking to go to the place with the fake food for forever!

Sunday was such a great day. We did ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING!! We stayed in our PJ's until early afternoon and didn't even get the kids in the tub until later than that. We just watched some shows and a movie called Love Actually-such a good movie! We did end up pausing the movie halfway thru to get ready because we wanted popcorn and Nicole had no diet pepsi in her house! Outrage!! Just kiddin'. She is being good and has gotten of the sauce but I had to have it with popcorn!
After that it was time to get ready for the show. I had no idea what to expect. When my mom first had the idea I'm like "what is wicked?" I will tell you what Wicked is-the best show ever! I don't even know what to say other than it was fantastic! I recommend it to any man, woman or child. I think anyone can enjoy this! I already want to see it again! I was sad to see it end but glad because it was getting late.

Of course since I am writing this we made it home safely barely missing running over a poor skunk. Glad I was driving and not the old lady (sorry Mom-u know I love ya!) That was our excitment for the weekend!

Easter Weekend

It was a beautiful Easter weekend. The weather was nice both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday we went to the Easter egg hunt that my ward had. It was really kind of fun because they had the whole field covered in easter eggs. What was so nice is that 1) it wasn't crowded like the one we went to in Ucon last year-couldn't even move with that one and 2) after the kids collected the eggs they just turned them in for bags of candy so each kid got the same amount of candy. It was so funny though because there are all these eggs just lying there and Rylee is running past them all-I don't know where she was going!
That night we colored easter eggs which was a lot of fun. We made a Rylee egg, a mommy egg and daddy egg but daddy's egg was yellow and it was so light you couldn't really see the word daddy-poor Justin! Here is a picture of our eggs. I was just going to take the picture in the egg carton but my clever husband told me to put them in one of our Easter baskets so they looked cute.
Here is Rylee with her Easter bunny ears on and a picture of her in her Easter dress. She looked so pretty but I forgot to take the picture until after church and we had already taken off her shoes and tights. My daughter the Poser-it seems like every picture we take of her now she is striking a pose!

Later that day we went to my Aunt Cheryl's house where we had ham and turkey and lots of other yummy food! I made dessert and since I couldn't decide what to do I made 2 different things. This picture is of Rylee and I making the cookies. She always likes to help make cookies so I just let her have a bowl and she put whatever she could find in it. The end result was some flour, cherry juice, cherries, cream cheese, cookie dough and wheat thins. Unfortunately I didn't think to get a picture of her masterpiece-it was lovely!

It was a good weekend but the one thing missing was my sister and Andrew. Holidays are always better when they are here with us! But Mom, Rylee and I are going to Utah this weekend for my Nicole's birthday so that will be a fun weekend!

Ebert & Chipp

So I wanted to do something this weekend that Rylee would enjoy. Normally on the weekends it is just the regular grocery shopping (which I love but she doesn't) and cleaning the house. Nothing fun for her so we decided to take her to the Monsters Vs Aliens movie. She was so excited to go. I have to admit that I am never excited to go see the cartoon movies but as a parent it is a requirement. Not that I am a movie critic in the slightest but here are my opinions on some past kid movies.

It seems like lately most of the movies we have seen are just ok. Kung Fu Panda I think was mostly for adults and Rylee didn't really even like the movie that much. Wall E and The Tale of Despereaux which were both cute movies but I think they were too serious. I am not trying to knock these movies down-they all have good message but I want laughter! I like the movies that both child and adult can enjoy. We need more of these movies. I thought Bolt was a good movie and it was funny (mostly because of the hamster) and Rylee loved it-we actually have that one on DVD now and have watched maybe 10 times already-I say "we" because when Rylee watches a movie most of the time she wants us to watch it with her! Now on to the movie of the moment. Monsters Vs Aliens-I really liked this movie. Rylee liked it and it made 2 adults laugh-it takes a lot to make me laugh and so I definelty recommend this one!

I've Had It!!

Enough is enough already-I don't want any more snow. I know this is Idaho Falls and everybody always says this is what you get and it should just be expected but it is time to stop. It has snowed almost every day this week luckily melting by the end of the day but today is different. It has been snowing heavily since early this morning. I went out to my car for lunch and the snow was so heavy and thick that my windshield wipers didn't even move when I turned them on. So I try to find my trusty window wiper and I can't find my long one that reaches all the way across. All I have is the small one that doesn't really do me a whole lot of good-I might as well be using my bare hands and all this while my shoes, socks and pants are getting soaked. They are still wet as I type this and it has been 2 hours since lunch. I have my trusty little heater underneath my desk going to try to dry out my pants and warm up my feet.

I know that in a week it could still be snowing or it could be warm and the sun shining, but just like I mentioned above this is Idaho and you never know what you will get-expect just about anything. Easter is next week and Rylee has her heart set on an Easter egg hunt in our backyard so I am really hoping for some sunshine (minus the snow on the ground) that day or Mother Nature is going to get it! Have a great day!
